Hello, everyone! My name is William H. Johnson Jr., and I’m a proud transplant to Oregon from the great state of New Jersey. After many years working in high-level security as a state and federal employee, I decided it was time for a career change. I ventured into the private sector, but it wasn’t the right fit for me. Then, a good friend working for the Hillsboro School District—aware of my college background in teaching—suggested I apply. I took his advice, and ten years later, I’m thriving in the public education sector.
I’m happily married, with seven wonderful grandchildren and one crazy but lovable dog. When I’m not busy with school or coaching, you’ll find me in the field, aiding communities struck by natural disasters. I’ve traveled far and wide, helping towns and families recover, often saying I’m there to assist people on their worst days. As a pastor, I also bring the Word to the least, the last, and the lost—the beautiful people of Portland, Oregon. I’m a passionate advocate for Brilliant Conversations, which has shown me how community can transform the education system we all navigate.
